Weather Conditions:
The safety of our passengers is our top priority. Weather conditions, including temperatures exceeding 25°C or winds exceeding 25 km/h, will be carefully assessed and may result in the cancellation or rescheduling of your flight. We reserve the right to make decisions based on weather conditions that could affect the safety and comfort of the flight.
Cancellation Policy:
If your flight is cancelled due to weather conditions, we will do our best to reschedule your flight to a later date. If rescheduling is not possible, a refund will be provided as per our cancellation policy.
Passenger Numbers:
Should the minimum number of passengers not be met, we may be required to cancel the flight.
Passenger Responsibility:
Passengers are responsible for arriving at the designated location at the specified time. Delays caused by passengers may result in missed flights and no refund.
Refund Policy:
Refunds are available in cases where the flight is cancelled by Melbourne’s Gooney Bird, including weather-related cancellations. Any other cancellations or changes made by the passenger may be subject to additional fees or non-refundable terms.
Safety and Security:
All passengers must adhere to safety guidelines and instructions given by the flight crew. Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in cancellation of the flight without a refund.
Mobility Capability
The DC-3 is not as user-friendly as modern aircraft for passengers with mobility issues.
‘Disembarking and boarding from and onto the DC-3 at our regional destinations is via an access ladder carried on board and deployed by the crew on arrival.
Due to cabin storage limitations, this ladder is narrow and steep. It needs to be used with great care, particularly in the disembarking process. It must be used by only one person at a time, facing the aircraft during both exit and entry.
If you or anyone in your group needs any form of mobility aids such as sticks/crutches/walking frames or wheelchairs we need to discuss this with you and perhaps have you test the ladder prior to the date of your flight. If we are unaware of anyone in this position until check-in, it’s possible we may not be able to carry them.

QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO DC-3 JUMPSEAT
Note:
This is a very small seat, it is not suitable for persons with impeded mobility or range of motion.
If you do not meet the height and weight requirements, Shortstop Jet Charter cannot guarantee a booking for the jump seat. Tentative bookings may be put in place and assessment made on the day of your flight by staff if you believe you do not meet the requirements listed above.
Regardless of pre-assessment, the captain of the aircraft has the authority to deny anyone the jump seat if they deem the candidate unsuitable upon arrival.
The third crew member seat in the cockpit of the DC-3 (normally used for a third pilot or training captain) is available for a passenger to occupy during takeoff and landing, subject to the captains discretion, and provided that you have normal mobility.
For Takeoff from Essendon you’ll board the aircraft prior to general loading of the other passengers, and will be able to observe all the pre departure and takeoff procedures.
For Takeoff from King Island you will be installed prior to departure. You will be briefed on Safety Factors, and plugged into the crew intercom system (no discussion with the crew is permitted prior to completion of takeoff, but you may video or take photos).
After takeoff, on attaining altitude, you’ll be escorted back to your assigned seat in the cabin.
For Landing at Essendon and King Island you’ll be installed prior to descent, and remain there until after engine shutdown. (No discussion with the crew is permitted prior to completion of landing, but you may video or take photos).
